Today I had the privilege of helping a young man named Nick celebrate his birthday. I had a match against Brock Hall at his party, which was named UPW: Nickamania. Brock is an incredibly talented wrestler and he really took me to the limit. I have to congratulate him, as it was painfully obvious that he outwrestled me on more than one occasion in the match. However, I was driven to keep up with him. I tried my hardest and made sure that for every bit I took, I gave that much and more back.
I could whine and complain about how Devan Nash came out and distracted the ref and myself, allowing Brock to roll me up for the pin, but, that wouldn't be accurate. If I hadn't allowed myself to be distracted, it may have gone differently. But, I let my emotions cloud my judgement and I lost.
I decided it was time to even up the odds when Brock and Devan were putting the beat down on one of my trainers, Bryan Skyline. As I said on my Facebook page, I was lucky enough to share the ring with three very talented wrestlers. I can't say a bad thing about the abilities of Brock and Devan. Brock knows his way around the ring, he's very technically gifted. Devan hits like a ton of bricks, he makes me truly believe it when the announcer says that he is 7'2; certainly, he is one of the biggest short guys I've ever met. Looking at the two of them together is even more impressive; they're talented, they're determined, and they won't let anything stand in their way. However, with the guidance of Bryan Skyline, and the support of all the fans, we came out on top.
This day will certainly stand out in my mind. It was a very special day and it was my pleasure to take part in it.
